Turn Blue Monday into the Happiest Day of the Year at The Arc Cinema
Blue Monday – often dubbed “the most depressing day of the year” – is getting a much-needed makeover at The Arc Cinema.
On Monday 19 January 2026, cinema lovers are invited to shake off the winter blues and enjoy every film, all day long, for just £5 per ticket, representing a saving of more than 50% on standard ticket prices.
The idea of Blue Monday was first introduced in 2004 by psychologist Dr Cliff Arnall, who identified the third Monday of January as the gloomiest day of the year. Cold weather, post-Christmas debt, failed New Year’s resolutions and low motivation all contribute to the mid-winter slump.
This year, however, The Arc Cinema is encouraging audiences to swap the gloom for great films and turn Blue Monday into the most entertaining Monday of the year.
A wide range of films will be screening throughout the day, including the critically acclaimed Hamnet, fresh from winning two Golden Globe Awards, and the brand-new release 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, starring Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell and Cillian Murphy. Audiences can also choose from popular titles such as Marty Supreme and The Housemaid, with many more films showing across the day.
With something for every taste, Blue Monday at The Arc Cinema offers the perfect excuse to escape the winter chill, relax, and enjoy outstanding cinema at an unbeatable price.
